The transparent presentation of data

Landsvirkjun operates according to an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System. The system requires the Company to outline its policies on environmental matters and to identify the potential environmental impact of its operations.

Landsvirkjun has, since 2006, published annual environmental reports detailing the management of environmental aspects and the Company’s objectives with regard to environmental matters. The Company is committed to the transparent presentation of data in order to support open and constructive dialogue on the Company’s success rate in environmental matters.

The numerical environmental data is compiled from Landsvirkjun’s accounting records, DynamicsAX, GB (green accounting), a human resource system, the geothermal database ViewData managed by Kemía sf., Landsnet’s database on electricity generation and records on land-use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) from the Agricultural University of Iceland. The data published are either actual figures or calculated based on measured values and have been reviewed by EFLA Consulting Engineers. The information in this report is given to the best of knowledge and is considered accurate.

A statement from the inspector of Landsvirkjun’s environmental report

EFLA Consulting Engineers have reviewed Landsvirkjun’s Environmental Report for the year 2013, and hereby confirm that the report contains information relevant to significant environmental aspects in Landsvirkjun’s operations. The information presented is consistent with the Company’s monitoring of key characteristics that can have significant environmental impact. This report also contains results of monitoring required by the Company’s operation permits.
